We made it to the RE's office early and to our surprise they were able to see us. So we started the day off with the injection class. Everything was fine until she started talking about doing 2 of the shots in the hip. I knew I would have to do it...what I didn't know was that she was going to get Da'bear to do one shot filled with water right then and there. The nurse found out quickly that I have a dirty mouth. LOL. The needle was extremely long. The shot wasn't bad at all. I was like, "That's it?" There was a hush in the room. She told Da'bear to push down to release the water. I thought the worst part was over with. Oh my goodness! That mess hurt and it was only water. The one good thing about the progesterone shot is that it is the kind that is thinner than most. Da'bear totally hated giving me that shot. It was written all over his face. I thought that maybe he did it wrong, but the nurse said that he did it perfect. A shot in the hip will always scare me...but hey, it will be worth it. So after I gathered my things and gained my composure, we had to move on to the mock transfer. The first thing they asked me was if I had a full bladder...and as always I would say no. I have always used the restroom prior to going to the RE's office. *oops* Oh my....I didn't realize I needed to have a full bladder to do the mock transfer. So my RE said he would try to see if he could find my uterus. So he goes in and notices my bladder and comments to the nurses about how tiny my bladder is. So anywho, they moved around and he noticed my uterus sitting straight up. He made the comment of how easy the transfer was going to be. We saw the catheter go in and he said that this transfer was going to be a straight shot! I didn't have any bad experiences with the mock transfer. The only thing that I really dread, at this point, is the shots in the hip.
*Sigh*
The things we do to have a healthy pregnancy. Having a child is so precious.

Thanks for your post, I really appreciate it. IVF surely is not for the faint of heart but I hope you are one of the girls that only has to do it once.
ICLW. Thank you for dropping by to visit my blog. I know that you will make an awesome mother - I wish all the best, when you are so committed, not even nasty needles will get in your way! Trick for the full bladder thing, you can always drink tons of water, but pee a little bit before you go in, just to ease your discomfort.
Won't be long now. Hang in there....thanks for your comments.
Glad to hear the mock transfer went well. I am so jealous -- I've got a crazy tipped uterus and I always get the "oh my, what's going on here" comment when the wand goes in.
Glad to hear the shot was OK! We're starting them in a couple of days, so reassuring to hear it was not great but not terrible.
Hope you're doing well as you get ready to start your cycle!
Yay for successful mock transfer... and boo for shots in the hip. But the end justifies the means right?

I hope the shots get easier. I dont know if my DH would ever be able to inject me. ~ICLW
The shots are not that bad! I HATE needles and since my DH is out of town 3 nights a week, I have been giving myself injections. You will get used to it and after the first one, you won't even feel it! I'm glad you had a great mock transfer, mine went very smoothly as well.
Thanks for all the comments & I will be checking in on your IVF progress! It won't be too much longer...
:)
(ICLW) Thanks for your comment on my blog :)
I'm glad your mock transfer went well! I hope the shots go easily for you. That is the thing that scares me most, although everyone I know who's done IVF says it gets better. Good luck!!
It's so exciting that you're one step closer! Hope the real shots don't hurt too much!
Good luck this cycle!
ICLW
Good luck on all the shots. This may be our next step as well (IVF). I will be praying for you.
Lisa :)
The things we do it RIGHT! Glad your class went well. ICLW.
I dread the hip shots too. Ouch! The needle is a little long. Glad everything went well. Now you should be ready for the real thing or as ready as you can get, right? GL!!! I'll be keepin' up with ya!
hi, I am visiting from ICLW...No. 103 to say hello and to check out your blog.
if you put a large cold (as in straight out of the freezer)coin on the spot before you inject it helps numb the pain at the start anyway.
I wish you the best of luck with your cycle.
